The original structure of the Monroe House in Hartford City, Indiana was built some time in the early 1860s. Since the very begining of the construction of the house it has been stated that strange going-ons were occurring in the house. Most of the tenants through-out the years that have taken up residence at the Monroe house had moved out with not much more than a years time of occupying the house/property. It is pure speculation for the reasons for the strange activity that has taken place since its construction. It has been said that there has been a wide range of human abuses in the Monroe House's history, including child abuse. There has also been heresy of occult practices taking place within the house. The activity taking place in the house through the years  include, but are not limited to, spontanious fires, shadowy figures, evp captures via electronic recording equipment (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), vp (Voice Phenomenon-voices of possible disembodied voices heard by the human ear), and people getting scratched by a presence unseen. It is hard to deny that there has been some very dark occurrences in the house's history. The not so long ago discovered, buried human bones found in the basement crawl space of the structure just adds to the evidence that indicates a dark history.  The bones discovered in that crawl space were, at that time, estimated to be approximately a century old.

On Monday, June 24th, 2019 Eventide Paranormal conducted an overnight investigation of the Monroe House. During the investigation there was definitely a negative vibe/feeling to the house. The more audio that was reviewed the more it appeared, whatever was there, was interacting with the investigators for a lot of the investigation. At one point during the investigation Craig was, out of fun, sarcastically responding to Investigator Rose. Craig then felt a burning sensation on his back. When lifting up the back of his shirt to check it out it was noticed that there were 4 small scratch marks on that area of his back. The evp captured and the personal exeriences made this night a very interesting evening.
